The beauty industry can sometimes make people feel like they have to compete, to compete for clients, compete online, and compete to be the best. But the truth is, community will always take you further than competition ever can. There's room for everyone. One stylist's success does not take away from another's, and stylists support each other, share knowledge, recommend products, celebrate wins, and encourage growth; everyone becomes stronger. At one salon I worked at, we truly operated as a team. It wasn't about competing with each other; it was about learning, helping one another, and growing together. I also had more of a mentor figure there; she was someone who guided me, poured knowledge into me, and helped shape how I see this industry.
